I have had this problem as well and this is what led me to researching and reviewing monitors... One thing that has really helped me is to go to sleep on time and AVOID Caffeine like the plague. I'm not sure why but it really messes me up when I work all day long on the computer and have caffeine as well. I just bought an LED monitor and that's helped as well.

Your sort is very informative and educative. I'm always staring on my computer always because of my job. I don't want to experience like what you experienced. Your blog is useful and big help for the readers to follow your tips. Thank for the information.

Hey, I just found this post, but am wondering if this is what I'm going through or not... I'm somewhat of an insomniac. Over the past... eight or nine months, I've taken to spending my extra time on the computer- even more so now that school's out and nobody's hiring. I spend the overwhelming majority of my day on my computer, writing, reading, playing games and doing artwork or making movies with various programs. But despite this constant computer use, I haven't experienced any sort of irritation or pain in my eyes until this last week. Mainly it's a dryness/itchiness feeling, not really any redness. I don't have any allergies (otherwise this should have manifested itself earlier) and my computer use is about the only change I've experienced recently (but even that's not much of a drastic change over the past months). Is it possible that the case so many of you have commented on going through up here is what I'm experiencing? Or I've also heard that if you get sick and touch your eyes it can get infected and irritated- but again, no physical signs of irritation are present (as of yet). I know this post is old, but I would appreciate any feedback or advice. Hypochondriac here...
Thanks!

Thx for all the tips & ideas on here. I've been having problems with this will try some of these out.
Pls double check this, but for those using 'red out' or 'red remover' type eye drops. These have a vein constriction medication in them, to reduce swelling Temporarily, but aren't ment for long term, repeated use like most on here have tried or need. Just an FYI.
Thx again, Brian

I had posted on here about 6 months ago. I still have this problem but I found 2 solutions that have helped me a lot. I found a pair of Gunnar glasses they are supposed to help with looking at screens. They have a yellow tint and a slight magnification on them. If you have 20/20 vision they are pretty cheap. I got mine for 59 dollars. I think they usually go for close to 100 though. I thought It was fake but they allow me to play video games again. I used to be able to play for 15 minutes max now I can play for 2 hours or more. I still can't play first person shooters though. Another thing I got was sun glasses. My eyes haven't been strained as much so they are getting a little better. I'm still not better but this Is something. Hope this helps.

wow.. i am echoing many of these sentiments myself... I noticed the red eye thing getting really bad after I played Doom 3 non stop for a month.. The brightness was getting so bad i could barely look at the screen for more than a few seconds... just deleted the games from my PC, and turned the brightness and contrast WAAAY, down, plus applied some eyedrops, and i am feeling some relief. i think overall abuse of the computer will eventually fuck your eyes. Got to be really careful with them.. thanks for all the wise words..

I teach college and am on and off the computer seven days a week. I have started to have such problems with my eyes after even 30 mins of work. My eyesight gets blurry as if I am looking through a water glass. And I get a dull headache. My eye doctor says that my prescription hasn't changed and nothing seems wrong. But this problem is certainly affecting my work. I am glad I found this site. I am going to try moisturizing eye drops. I am amazed about the comments about blinking and realize that I don't blink enough. And I am going to try light colored sunglasses to reduce the harsh light.

If anyone has any suggestions specific to the blurring problem (not red eyes), I'd appreciate your comments. And I am going to try and find the settings for the screen to tone down the harsh white background. Thanks so much!
